SCOTTISH INDOOR BOWLING ASSOCIATION – RANKING LIST
The S.I.B.A. ranking list is based on a players performance in the Scottish National Championship events (Singles, Junior Singles, 4-Bowl Pairs, 2-Bowl Pairs, Triples and Fours), the British Isles Championships and International appearances.
The S.I.B.A. have decided to split the Ranking List into two separate lists an Open List that excludes Junior Events and a Junior List that includes all events.
The ranking takes into account a players performance over a five year period, being the normal length of time over which selectors would judge a players performance. Most recent performances will, obviously, merit higher points than those of previous years and the system calculation will take this into account.
Calculation of a player’s ranking:
Each player representing his club in any of the National Championships (Singles, Junior Singles, 4-Bowl Pairs, 2-Bowl Pairs, Triples and Fours) will be awarded ONE point for playing in the prelim or reaching the last 32 and ONE EXTRA point for each subsequent game won, giving a possible six points for each event.
In addition, each player will earn ONE POINT on reaching the FINAL of the British Isles Championships in each event and ONE EXTRA point for winning a BIIBC title.
For each Senior International match in which the player plays ONE POINT will be awarded and for each Junior International match ONE HALF POINT will be awarded. Points for Junior International appearances will not be awarded if the player plays in the Senior Internationals in the same season.
A percentage will be applied to the points achieved to reduce the effect of successes in previous years.
